Wash care symbols for fashion brands.

As a retailer or fashion brand, it is your duty to ensure that wash care labels serve as accurate guides for customers in how to care for their garments.

There are five main symbols that cover washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and professional cleaning.

Washing

This group of symbols indicates whether the garment is safe to wash in a machine and what temperature and settings should be used.

Suitable for washing at the temperature shown.

Suitable for washing at the temperature shown on a mild process.

Suitable for washing at the temperature shown on a very mild process.

Hand wash only.

Garment should not be washed.

Bleaching

The triangle icon refers to whether a garment can be cleaned using bleach.

Can be bleached. Any bleach agent is allowed.

Bleaching using non-chlorine bleach only.

Do not bleach.

Drying

A square symbol relates to the drying process.  A circle inside the square references tumble drying while lines inside the square are for natural drying processes.

Tumble dry with a mild process and lower temperature.

Tumble dry with a regular process and temperature.

Do not tumble dry.

Line dry.

Dry flat.

Ironing

An iron symbol shown with simple dot indicators relating to maximum temperature.

Iron at low temperature (up to 110°C).

Iron at moderate temperature (up to 150°C).

Iron at high temperature (up to 200°C).

Do not iron.

Professional Cleaning

The circle symbol gives information on the possibility of professional dry or wet cleaning.

Dry clean with any solvent except trichloroethylene.

Dry clean with any solvent except trichloroethylene. Mild Process.

Dry clean with petroleum-based solvents only.

Dry clean with petroleum-based solvents only. Mild Process.

Do not dry clean.

Professional wet clean.

Professional wet clean. Mild process.

Professional wet clean. Very mild process.

Do not wet clean.
